Badger Outdoor Fourplex
Madison (East)
This theater was located at 2001 N. Stoughton Rd. It had four screens with the projection booth / concession stand was located in the center. The entrance road split into four lanes after the ticket booths and spiraled around to each of the screens. This was the first theater that I ever went to that didn't have the speakers on the poles, but used a short range AM broadcast. This theater was still open in the late 80's and appears in a 88-89 Madison area phonebook that I have from my college years. I wish I could remember all of the movies that I saw at this theater. Some that come to mind are Robocop, Maximum Overdrive, Night of the Living Dead, Return of the Living Dead, and Caddyshack 2. I'm sure there were others, but I can't remember them. This was my first experience at a multiplex theater. The property is now occupied by storage buildings, condos, and a McDonalds. Somewhere between the late 1960's and the 1980's, the theater was upgraded from one screen to four.
